Phase 1 Reflection

Phase 1 of IS101 was an adjustment period for me. Dealing with work, my other classes as well. It was a time to figure out my scheduling and how I would deal with each of my classes. Reflecting back in IS101, I would say that I kept up pretty well. What I would do differently in the future would be to take my bonus quizzes, unfortunately I haven't done a single one.

From chapter 4, 4.7.1 was a topic that I was fascinated with. Its a useful feature that allows text to glow around objects. I use this skill outside IS101 when I need to create a poster or an article. I remembered using this feature a few years ago not knowing what it was. I had to use it when I was in high school, creating group article projects. It was important that the words would flow around images so that there would be no wasted space.

The MO-110 Word certification exam test our ability of what we learned in IS101 so far. I plan preparing for this by practicing the live simulation and redoing them until I feel comfortable.

I am in the process of finishing my presentation at this moment. I hope that everyone learns and also becomes interested in the Philippines as it carries a huge part of me since that is my home country.

  2. Hey Arthur,

Really appreciated your honesty in this reflection! It’s totally valid to still be figuring out how to manage everything, it’s a lot to juggle. I think it’s awesome that even though you didn’t do the bonus quizzes yet, you’re still keeping up well and looking at how to improve going forward.

Text Wrap (4.7.1) was a cool one for me too! It’s super useful for making posters and flyers look clean and professional. That’s awesome that you remembered using it back in high school, full circle moment right there. ^-^

  6. Hi Arthur! You gave a great presentation on the Philippines. We share the same favorite foods of lechΓ³n and sinigang! Hopefully, you’ve found a balance that works well for you between work and school by now. Repeating the live simulations is a great way to study for the certification exam, and I’ll be doing the same for our next one soon.

  8. Hello Arthur!

Bonus quizzes are good just because you learn a lot from taking them. Especially the recent ones about dissecting the URL.

I enjoyed your presentation! It was interesting to learn about the Philippines, especially the food. I have a friend who lived here in Las Vegas and moved last year to the Philippines. I can tell he really enjoys it because he has his whole family there, and they are always getting together and having gatherings with food.

  12. Hey Arthur,
Thank you for sharing your honest reflection!
It’s great that you’ve managed to balance work, other classes, and IS101—definitely not an easy task. I totally relate to the scheduling struggle in the beginning of the semester. Also, it's cool that you connected something from Chapter 4 to your past experiences and current needs, glowing text around objects can really elevate a design.
